Gearing up for another awesome season at Canyoning season
We are already into the 10th week of the 2015 – 2016 season and we can’t believe what an awesome season it is turning out to be. We have welcomed Shane Adams, one of our longest serving guides, back as Operations Manager and he is settling into his new position well. I think he is still getting used to more time spent at a desk than in the canyon but he will get there. We have also recruited some amazing guides from all over the world, including 3 Kiwis, which are almost as rare as the native bird themselves in canyoning companies around New Zealand! Brodie, ML and Josh we are very lucky to have you on board!
Water levels have been high in both canyons mainly due to a large amount of snow pack melt and a wet spring. But hopefully we are moving into a new weather pattern, with a warm summer forecast by many. As a result our guides have been taking part in extra high water training along with training from industry leader Grant Prattley. Grant took the whole team through an emergency scenario training session last Thursday. The feedback from the guides was very positive and it sounds like everyone learnt some new techniques and skills.
The Christmas period has also kicked off with lots of companies choosing to bring their teams out with Canyoning Queenstown for their staff parties. Last week we had 24 members of the Hoamz Queenstown team who were challenged during our half day trip in the Queenstown Canyon. I think all of the team left the canyon with a sense of achievement. We also took the Bradley & Cook Electrical boys out on Saturday it was a chance for us to repay them for all their hard work during our shop refit for the brand new Adventure Centre!
We are all looking forward to a busy and safe season at Canyoning Queesntown. Bring on the Adventure!
